This project is an old factory building located in the center of Baoan Wetland Park in Shenzhen.

丨Beauty of the Site

The scars of history are often a kind of fullness. By cutting out the unimportant and the unsubstantial, and giving a different thickness to historical site, the beauty of the site is revealed, enable visitors to sense the smell of things that remain in them but have vanished.

丨Strategy

We need to remove the dilapidated and unusable parts, and "grow" new building out of them, so that "old" and "new" buildings naturally coexist in harmony.

- Vertical penetration: a courtyard space is opened in the building. Trees grow and extend vertically from the courtyard, filling the whole building and integrating into the park.

- Horizontal penetration: the ground floor is open and the wetland park is connected with the surrounding landscape.
